Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan's Bagdad operations in Arizona offer a safety‑driven role performing leaching process duties in a mine/manufacturing environment. You will join a team that values safety, hands‑on problem solving, and steady collaboration, with housing support and a 24/7 operation in mind.

As a Leach Field Technician, you will perform pipe fusions, manage material handling, operate loaders and UTVs, maintain the leach fields, and keep your area clean.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience in the trade.
• Complete required competencies and pass a written assessment if required.
• Ability to understand and follow safety instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform pipe fusions using fusing machine.
• Knowledge of plant nomenclature: sumps, pumps, leaching areas.
• Assist with placement of evaporative spray heads and drip systems on leach fields.
• Load, deliver, and unload pipe and materials.
• Operate loaders, forklifts, boom trucks, and UTVs.
• Maintain area housekeeping.
• Perform maintenance activities.
• Perform other duties as required.

Description

Performs duties related to the leaching process and leach field construction.

• Performs pipe fusions using fusing machine
• Responsible for having knowledge of plant nomenclature to include sumps, pumps, and leaching areas
• Responsible for having knowledge of various evaporative spray heads and drip systems and may assist with and perform the proper placement of these on leach fields
• Perform loading, delivering, and unloading pipe and materials
• Operate mobile equipment such as loaders, forklifts, boom trucks, and light duty vehicles and UTV (Utility terrain vehicle)
• Perform area housekeeping
• Perform maintenance activities
• Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

• Six (6) months of experience in the trade
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge; as well as safety.

• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
• This is a Safety sensitive role
• Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
• Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day
• May be required to work a non-standard schedule which may include shift work (other than day shift) in a 24/7/365 operation
• Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $24.00 - $32.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
