Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is looking for a Mechanic to perform mechanical and electrical repairs in a heavy industrial setting in Bagdad, AZ. You will weld, cut, pipefit and perform light machining while applying hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical knowledge.

The role includes reading schematics and lifting heavy weights, with training provided for new staff. Candidates should have at least one year in relevant trade and pass required assessments; a high school diploma or GED is preferred.

Qualifications

• 1 year in relevant trade or combination of education/experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Must demonstrate ability to apply knowledge and pass a written assessment where required.
• Adhere to safety and LOP/LOP requirements where applicable.

What You Will Do

Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to machinery, equipment and buildings in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Duties include welding, cutting, pipefitting and light machining while applying knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps and electrical maintenance .

• You will comprehend and execute assigned duties quickly and accurately.
• In this role, you operate various stationary and mobile equipment.
• As the Mechanic, you perform manual lifting of various weights, shapes and sizes.
• Execute Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
• Read machine prints or schematics.
• Measure and work to detail.
• Operate transportation equipment, including forklifts and cranes.
• Safely operate a forklift following required training.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To Freeport

• At least one (1) year in relevant Trade or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
• Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude.
• The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $23.00 - $31.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
