Job summary

Lower Colorado River Authority in Austin, TX is seeking a Hydrologist to support the River Operations Center. You will work with engineers and hydrologists to manage the lower Colorado River during droughts and floods, using RiverWare models and data analysis to guide water releases and supply decisions.

Ideal candidates bring several years of hydrology experience, a relevant degree, and strong communication skills to coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Four or more years of hydrology experience including data collection and analysis.
• A degree in hydrology, water resources, electronics, engineering or related field (may be substituted per LCRA guidelines).
• Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily water supply calculations using RiverWare and Excel models to schedule releases from the Highland Lakes.
• Run and analyze data to be dispersed to internal and external customers.
• Support flood operations by monitoring weather and Hydromet gauges to assist in release decisions.
• Act as a point of contact for internal and external customers to answer questions or provide knowledge on water supply, flood conditions and water control decisions.
