Job Overview

ELOS Environmental, an Aventia Company, is seeking a full‑time Hydrologic Technician in Hammond, LA. The technician will support and manage new and existing projects, assist with business development, and perform technical installations and data management for stream and waterway monitoring.

Full‑time, 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Installing, calibrating, and troubleshooting stream gauges, flow meters, pressure transducers, and sensors.
  • Operating and managing storm water and water quality monitoring stations.
  • Recording data from tests and compiling information from reports, databases, and other sources.
  • Providing oversight, review, and interpretation of data for investigations, mitigation, or monitoring projects.
  • Managing data collection and analysis to map stream flow and volume.
  • Leading and organizing team for project field efforts.
  • Preparing and reviewing environmental reports, permits, and related materials.
  • Assisting public and private clients with permit coordination, acquisition, and compliance.
  • Developing lasting professional relationships with current clients through quality support.
  • Engaging new clients through professional networking, marketing, and exceptional customer service.

The position requires fieldwork for long hours, including walking 3–5 miles of rugged terrain, carrying equipment weighing up to 20 pounds, and working in inclement weather.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, Hydrology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in gauge installation.
  • Understanding of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations.
  • Solid organizational and technical writing skills.
  • Effective time‑management, written communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Articulate with professional presence and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in team situations and establish strong relationships with overlapping client project work.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and applicable industry‑related software packages.
  • Capacity to conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, walking 3–5 miles in rugged terrain, carrying equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Experience with rainfall data collection and interpretation (rain gauges or NOAA data).
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS, stormwater modeling, or compliance software.
