Job summary

Jenkins Electric is seeking a hands-on Field Service Technician to service hydroelectric turbines, generators, and related equipment in the field. You will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, install, test, and commission equipment at customer sites, often overnight, with lodging provided.

The role emphasizes safety, clear communication, and delivering high-quality workmanship while collaborating with project managers, engineers, and customers onsite.

Qualifications

• Requires hands-on field experience in maintenance or service.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and communication with customers.
• Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites and project locations as required, including overnight stays using company-provided lodging.
• Perform mechanical and electrical inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and testing on hydroelectric turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
• Assist with disassembly, installation, alignment, cleaning, reassembly, and commissioning of hydroelectric equipment.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and operational issues, using sound technical judgment to identify root causes and develop effective solutions.
• Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, technical manuals, specifications, and work instructions.
• Conduct detailed equipment inspections and document findings, deficiencies, and recommended corrective actions.
• Support startup, operational testing, and performance verification of hydroelectric units following maintenance, repair, or installation activities.
• Represent Jenkins Electric professionally at customer sites by providing dependable service, strong communication, and a solutions-focused attitude.
• Follow all Jenkins Electric safety policies, site-specific requirements, environmental regulations, and applicable industry standards.
