Job summary

PG&E Vacaville is seeking an experienced Relay Protection Electrical Technician (Hydro) to calibrate, install, maintain protective relay systems and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation and compliance with NERC standards.

You will work on microprocessor and electro-mechanical relays, substation protection, SCADA systems, and field-test and troubleshoot equipment while coordinating with IBEW Local 1245.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and journeyman electrician status.
• Experience testing protective relay equipment in power stations or substations.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install, field test and maintain protective relay equipment and associated wiring.
• Calibrate electro‑mechanical and microprocessor relays including protective functions.
• Test current transformers, power and instrument transformers, and various transducers.
• Pack, move and install tools weighing up to 100 pounds in challenging terrains.
• Work safely, drive company vehicles and complete daily logs.
