Job summary

Genex Systems in McLean, VA, is seeking a Hydraulics Research Engineer to support the FHWA at TFHRC. You will test scour around piers, abutments, and other components using advanced instrumentation and collaborate with Argonne National Laboratory.

The position requires a Master’s in Civil Engineering with 1+ year of related research, a strong understanding of open-channel hydraulics and sediment transport, and the ability to plan, run, and publish findings for national practitioners.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with related research or engineering experience.
• Experience in laboratory test design, setup, data collection, and analysis.
• Strong knowledge of open-channel hydraulics and sediment transport.

Responsibilities

• Apply hydraulics and civil engineering expertise to defined project goals.
• Design physical test matrices and conduct scour/open-channel experiments.
• Prepare test environments with CAD models and set up flow conditions.
• Collect and analyze data using advanced sensors and instrumentation.
• Develop methods and tools; publish FHWA reports and papers.
• Manage research projects from requirements through documentation.
