Job summary

Altec in Mount Airy, NC is hiring for a hands-on assembler to prepare, assemble and install vehicle and chipper components across multiple departments. The role requires reading schematics, blueprints, and work orders, plus basic math and PPE usage. Training across stations is expected.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, basic computer skills, and a willingness to learn, with experience in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, or manufacturing processes preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.
• Basic computer usage knowledge desired.
• Vocational Training in lieu of experience will be considered.
• Ability to read tape measures, blue prints, and schematics desired.
• General knowledge of mechanical, hydraulics, electrical, or manufacturing/production processes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble and install vehicle and/or chipper components to specifications for Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, Unit and/or Finish departments.
• Use PPE and maintain a clean, safe work area (5S).
• Read and interpret schematics and work orders; use basic hand tools.
• Learn and operate all equipment within the cell; perform rework as required.
• Support APS initiatives and participate in cross-training.
• Install components, test installed systems, and ensure quality.
