Job Description

SOL Engineering Services, LLC is an engineering and technical services provider with over 20 years of experience. Our success stems from the diverse backgrounds of our firm's owners and our team of approximately 100 engineers, scientists, technical subject matter experts, and program managers. Our hands-on project implementation approach integrates management, quality, and engineering principles to ensure effective delivery of all projects. We maintain a sterling reputation for providing high-quality, responsive engineering and technical services while upholding professional commitments and ensuring complete client satisfaction throughout the United States.

We are excited to announce that CCPRS has won the next 5-year contract for the Public Assistance Technical Assistance Contract V (PA TAC V Programs) in the West zones (e.g., Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, California, Arizona, Northern Mariana Islands, American Samoa, Guam, Hawaii, Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri). Through CCPRS, SOL Engineering Services, LLC is seeking a technical support assistant for FEMA disaster-related operations across the U.S. FEMA uses the PA TAC to obtain various labor categories, including Environment/General Planners, Engineers (all disciplines), Construction Managers/Inspectors/Estimators, Project Managers, Financial Analysts, and other related professional services. These services assist state, local, municipal, and public entities in developing grant applications for Federal Public Assistance Funding to repair infrastructure and facilities damaged by natural disasters.

SOL Engineering is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Hydraulic Engineer to join our team under the FEMA Public Assistance Technical Assistance Contract V (PATAC V) program. This role provides technical expertise and guidance for hydraulic engineering projects related to disaster recovery and mitigation efforts. The Senior Hydraulic Engineer will collaborate with FEMA, state, and local officials to assess and design solutions for flood risk management, water control structures, and other hydraulic systems impacted by natural disasters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert technical leadership in planning, designing, and implementing hydraulic engineering projects, including floodplain management, stormwater management, levee systems, and dam safety.
  • Conduct detailed assessments of damaged hydraulic structures, analyze the extent of damage, and develop engineering solutions for repair, replacement, or mitigation.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using industry-standard software to evaluate flood risks, drainage issues, and water control structure performance.
  • Collaborate with FEMA personnel, state and local agencies, and stakeholders to develop recovery strategies meeting regulatory requirements and project goals.
  • Oversee multiple projects, ensuring timely, within-scope, and within-budget completion. Prepare project plans, schedules, and reports.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including FEMA guidelines, NFIP, and environmental assessments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
  • Prepare engineering reports, project documentation, and technical presentations for FEMA and stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Education Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in hydraulic engineering, disaster recovery, flood risk management, and water resource projects. Experience with FEMA PA or disaster recovery programs is highly desirable; otherwise, 15 years of related experience with no PA experience is acceptable.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. Certifications such as CFM are a plus.
  • Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM) and GIS applications. Strong understanding of FEMA and NFIP regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Ability to develop innovative solutions under pressure.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in teams, manage multiple priorities, and build stakeholder relationships.

Why Join Us?

  • Impactful Work: Play a vital role in community recovery and resilience building.
  • Professional Growth: Opportunities for learning, development, and advancement.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and disaster recovery professionals.

Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary, comprehensive health benefits, paid vacation, professional development, and a 401(k) plan.
