Job summary

Wilson Engineers seeks an experienced Hydraulic Engineer - Civil Engineer to join our Tempe, AZ team. The role supports drainage design and hydrologic analysis throughout our northern Nevada operations and beyond.

This full-time position requires PE-licensed or in-process candidates and offers relocation assistance for well-qualified applicants. Responsibilities include hydrologic modeling, FEMA permitting, and coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams while mentoring EIT staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of drainage experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Proficient with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, Flo-2D.
• Proficient with ArcGIS and QGIS; GISP desirable.
• Proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Team-oriented with attention to detail.
• Knowledge of construction means, methods and techniques.
• Ability to prepare civil engineering documents and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Writes and coordinates preparation of graphics for presentations.

We are seeking an experienced Hydraulic Engineer - Civil Engineer to join our team. This position is 40 hours per week in our Tempe, AZ office. This position will support our Northern Nevada operations. Relocation assistance available for well-qualified candidates!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepares hydrologic and hydraulic models using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, & Flo-2D.
• Prepares hydrologic and hydraulic studies and FEMA permitting; prior floodplain modeling work experience in Douglas County is a preferable.
• Researches jurisdictional drainage requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings.
• Oversees production of drainage design and construction drawings using AutoCAD & MicroStation
• Performs data management and prepare exhibits using ArcGIS and QGIS desirable.
• Works as a member of a multi-discipline team.
• Mentors EIT staff regarding hydrologic and hydraulic theory and practice
• Conducts site visits and document findings.
• Writes and coordinates preparation of graphic materials for presentations and documents.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree in Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of drainage experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
• Proficient with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, & Flo-2D
• Proficiency with ArcGIS and QGIS; GISP certification desirable
