Job description

Hydraulic Engineer Location: Charlotte, NC (On‑Site)

Work hands‑on with senior engineers on NCDOT‑level transportation and infrastructure projects across the Southeast, designing the stormwater, drainage, and culvert systems behind major roadway and bridge work.

Must‑Haves
  • 5+ years of hydraulic, hydrology, or civil engineering design experience
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Hands‑on experience with stormwater, drainage, or roadway design
  • Proficiency in HEC‑RAS, MicroStation, or similar design tools
  • Working knowledge of NCDOT standards and transportation projects (preferred)
  • EIT certification (held or in progress)
What You’ll Do

Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis on transportation and infrastructure projects, supporting senior engineers from analysis through final design.

Design stormwater systems, roadway drainage, and erosion control solutions, plus contribute to bridge and culvert hydraulic design and outfall analysis.

Work in HEC‑RAS, MicroStation, GEOPAK Drainage, OpenRoads, and SUDA to deliver technical reports, calculations, and DOT‑compliant documentation.

Participate in field reviews, site visits, and data validation, then collaborate with the team on project schedules and deliverables.

What Sets This Role Apart

Real hydraulic and hydrology design work from day one, not just support tasks. You’ll touch the analysis, the modeling, and the deliverable.

Direct mentorship from senior engineers with a clear path to P.E. licensure and increasing project ownership as you grow.

Established multidisciplinary firm with a strong NCDOT reputation and a steady pipeline of high‑impact transportation work across the Southeast.

Nice to Have
  • Exposure to GEOPAK Drainage, OpenRoads, or SUDA
  • Bridge or culvert hydraulic design background
  • Active progress toward P.E. licensure
