Job summary

Southwest Shipyard, LP in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Crane Operator to support field operations on barge repair projects. You will operate friction or hydraulic lattice boom cranes ranging from 50 ton to 150 ton, work with Welders, Laborers, and other craft workers, and report to the Project Manager or Barge Repair Supervisor.

The role requires safe operation, adherence to load charts, and willingness to overtime/weekends. Must have NCCCO and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience operating hydraulic cranes.
• Must have NCCCO certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent or 3+ years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate hydraulic cranes (50–150 ton) for barge/boat/ferry construction and repair.
• Assist in assembly/disassembly of crane installations and rigging.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
• Ensure loads stay within crane load charts and within safe radius.
