Job summary

PALFINGER is seeking a skilled mechanic for our Birmingham, AL operation to perform diagnostics and repairs on cranes, truck-mounted equipment, and related systems. The role includes preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, and after-hours troubleshooting when needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED plus 3+ years of mechanical experience focusing on articulating cranes and forklifts, with strong hydraulics, electrical, and welding skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of mechanical experience or training, with emphasis on articulating cranes and forklifts.
• Strong skills in mechanical systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, troubleshooting/diagnostics, and welding.

Responsibilities

• In-shop diagnostics and repairs for articulating cranes, truck-mounted forklifts, bucket trucks, platforms, conveyors, trucks, and trailers.
• Preventive maintenance following customer schedules, including annual DOT inspections and warranty service tasks.
• Emergency and unscheduled troubleshooting during working and non-working hours.
• Clear communication of mechanical issues and repair needs to the shop manager.
• Accurate, timely service documentation: estimates, authorizations, parts ordering/recording, labor, and inventory entries.
