Zurich North America is seeking a successful Workers’ Compensation Defense Trial Attorney to work out of our Chicago, IL Staff Legal office. This role requires 1 day in the office per week and covers Chicago metro and other Illinois locations, handling complex WC litigation with a broad, varied caseload.

The attorney will collaborate with claims professionals, prepare pleadings, conduct research, and represent the company through pre-trials, arbitration hearings, and post-trial appeals when

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and 5+ years of experience in the Litigation area required.
• Member in good standing of the Illinois State Bar Association required.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe required.
• Experience with Lexis or Westlaw required.
• Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims, and the insurance defense litigation environment.
• Knowledge of the law and procedure.

Responsabilités

• Represent Zurich in all phases of Workers’ Compensation litigation in Illinois.
• Prepare and defend moderate to high exposure WC cases.
• Work with claims professionals providing legal analysis and advice.
• Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents; conduct legal research.
• Prepare for and conduct pre-trial investigations, pre-trials, and arbitration hearings.
• Conduct post-trial activities, including appeals to the Commission, Circuit Court, and/or Appellate Courts where appropriate.
