Job summary

Chubb’s ESIS unit seeks an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Representative in Cheektowaga, NY or Philadelphia, PA with a hybrid schedule (3 days in office, 1 day remote). You will investigate and settle claims promptly, review policy details, and guide investigations to determine coverage and liability.

You will interview claimants and witnesses, arrange for surveys, evaluate facts, set reserves, and prepare comprehensive reports.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of experience handling higher-level Workers’ Compensation claims.
• Basic knowledge of claims handling and familiarity with claims terminology.
• Effective negotiation skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal positively with claimants, customers, insureds, brokers, attorneys, and others regarding losses.
• Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
• Knowledge of ACE products, services, coverages, and policy limits, along with awareness of ACE claims best practices.
• Knowledge of applicable state and local laws.
• State adjuster’s licensing is a plus, or future licensing may be required.
• Familiarity with computer systems.
• Typing speed of 40 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Receive new assignments.
• Review claim and policy information to determine coverage and extent of policy obligations.
• Interview and obtain statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, physicians, attorneys, police officers, and others.
• Arrange for surveys and experts where appropriate.
• Evaluate facts to determine liability and company obligations.
• Prepare reports on investigations, settlements, denials, and evaluations.
• Set reserves within authority limits and discuss changes with the Team Leader.
• Review progress of claims with Team Leader and discuss remedial actions.
• Manage litigation files in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Assist Team Leader in developing methods for handling claims.
• Settle claims promptly and obtain releases, proofs of loss, or compensation agreements.
• Inform claimants of denials when applicable.
• Assist in preparing cases for trial and coordinating witness attendance.
• Refer claims to subrogation as appropriate.
• Participate in claim file reviews and audits with customers, insureds, and brokers.
• Administer benefits timely and maintain control of the resolution process.
• Establish and maintain strong customer relations.
