Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer in Memphis seeks a Water/Wastewater Project Engineer to work on drinking water, wastewater, and reuse treatment upgrades as part of our design teams. You will participate in planning, design, and construction support for diverse water projects.

Responsibilities include fieldwork, project management of small to mid-size projects, and collaboration with clients and technical staff, with occasional travel and a flexible hybrid schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental, civil, chemical, or mechanical engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 5-15 years of experience in planning, design, or construction of water-related projects.
• Experience preparing conceptual and feasibility studies; construction drawings and specifications; bidding assistance; and office/field construction support services.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with engineering and construction management software.
• Strong communication skills, self-motivation, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage small projects.
• Strong interest in the water, wastewater, and stormwater industry.

Responsibilities

• Participation in evaluation, planning, permitting, and design of water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
• Perform fieldwork and site visits during design and construction phases.
• Manage small to medium projects and support larger projects.
• Develop technical treatment strategies and design criteria.
• Coordinate with internal specialists to support project delivery.
• Support client coordination, collaboration, and business development.
