Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a transmission line engineer in Warrenville, IL for a hybrid role combining office and remote work. You design lines from 69kV to 765kV, analyze structures and foundations, select conductors, and develop cost estimates and procurement specs.

Use PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE, model lines, review vendor submittals, and interface with teams to deliver compliant, cost-effective designs. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Internship or co-op experience in related engineering fields.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 3+ years in transmission line engineering.
• Knowledge of basic transmission line engineering and design techniques.
• Ability to produce technical plans, drawings and models.
• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in 69kV–765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of poles and towers.
• Conduct foundation design work.
• Conduct conductor studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and procurement specifications.
• Specify transmission line components.
• Model lines in PLS-CADD, determine ROWs, sag calculations, and plan/profile drawings.
• Review vendor submittals.
