Ally Financial in Detroit is seeking a hands-on Principal Software Engineer to lead design, development, and support of dealer-facing applications across frontend, backend, APIs, and cloud. This role emphasizes usability, reliability, and production excellence, with a focus on scalable platforms and secure delivery.

You will mentor engineers, shape standards, coordinate releases, and partner with product and operations to improve dealer experiences.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end full-stack engineering across front-end, back-end, APIs, data, and cloud infrastructure for dealer-facing applications.
• Translate business requirements into technical designs and scalable components.
• Own and coordinate release management activities for dealer-facing applications, including planning and deployment readiness.
• Mentor engineers, shape engineering standards, and drive continuous improvement.
