Job summary

BGW, a Carolina-based accounting firm now part of Ascend, is seeking a Tax Lead to support BGW’s tax service teams as the primary client liaison and project manager for assigned engagements. You will maintain proactive client communication, supervise team members, and ensure all milestones and deadlines are met, while coordinating with internal experts on tax planning and consulting needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a tax role.
• 1+ year experience in a client communicating role
• Working familiarity with forms 1120S, 1065, and 1040.
• Exceptional customer service skills and communication.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage projects to help client teams meet deadlines.
• Serve as primary client contact for assigned engagements.
• Coordinate information intake, documentation, and status updates.
• Escalate technical questions to internal experts when appropriate.
• Route work to appropriate team members based on needs and capacity.
• Communicate with IRS/state authorities as needed.
• Assist with tax planning and consulting requirements.
