Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to join the TFDM program supporting the FAA. You will integrate, validate, and deploy mission-critical capabilities across NAS, working hybrid in Gaithersburg, MD.

Responsibilities include system integration, verification, and testing, coordinating with FAA stakeholders, developing automation tools, and mentoring junior engineers, with up to 50% travel to FAA locations nationwide.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline plus 6+ years of relevant experience, or 4+ years with a related Master’s degree.
• Ability to obtain FAA SF‑85P Public Trust.
• Experience integrating and testing large-scale, distributed software systems.
• Strong Linux/UNIX administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or Shell scripting for automation and data analysis.
• Experience troubleshooting network configurations, connectivity, and distributed system interfaces.
• Experience with XML messaging, APIs, databases, or messaging middleware.
• Experience developing automation solutions that improve engineering efficiency.
• Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools is desirable.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to travel up to 50% for deployments and testing.
• Applicants must meet eligibility for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

• Integrate, configure, and validate TFDM capabilities in integration labs.
• Execute system integration, verification, and validation to ensure NAS readiness.
• Support demonstrations, verification events, and customer acceptance with FAA stakeholders.
• Collaborate with software, systems engineering, networking, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Analyze results, identify root causes, and document resolutions.
• Support deployment activities at FAA facilities including ATCTs.
• Execute interface testing and validate NAS communications.
• Coordinate activities with FAA personnel and Leidos teams.
• Develop automation tools and AI-assisted solutions to improve testing efficiency.
• Support remote deployment with infrastructure and installation teams.
• Maintain TFDM architecture and learn integration strategies for new capabilities.
• Integrate services with databases, messaging systems, and external APIs.
• Troubleshoot XML messaging, JMS queues, networking, IPs, and interfaces.
• Demonstrate capabilities during run-for-record events for acceptance and release.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
