Job summary

Leidos seeks a Systems Integration Engineer for the TFDM program supporting the FAA. You will integrate, validate, and deploy mission-critical capabilities across NAS environments, collaborating with software, systems engineering, and FAA stakeholders.

The role involves live deployments, formal tests, and customer acceptance activities at airports nationwide. You will travel up to 50% to support deployments, demonstrations, and testing at FAA facilities, with hybrid work from Gaithersburg, MD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline with 6+ years of relevant experience, or 4+ years with a related Master's degree.
• Ability to obtain an FAA SF-85P Public Trust.
• Experience integrating and testing large-scale distributed software systems.
• Strong Linux/UNIX administration and troubleshooting experience.
• Experience with Python, Bash, or Shell scripting for automation and data analysis.
• Experience troubleshooting network configurations, connectivity, and distributed system interfaces.
• Experience with XML messaging, APIs, databases, or messaging middleware.
• Experience developing automation solutions that improve engineering efficiency.
• Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools is highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate with engineers, leadership, and FAA customers.
• Will travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Integrate, configure, and validate TFDM capabilities in physical and virtual labs.
• Execute system integration, verification, and validation for NAS compliance.
• Support formal customer demonstrations, verifications, and acceptance testing with FAA stakeholders.
• Collaborate with software, systems engineering, networking, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Analyze results, identify root causes, and document resolutions.
• Support deployment at FAA facilities, including ATCTs.
• Execute system interface testing and validate NAS interfaces.
• Coordinate integration activities with FAA personnel and Leidos teams.
• Develop automated tools and AI-assisted solutions to improve testing efficiency.
• Support remote deployment activities with infrastructure and installation teams.
• Learn TFDM architecture and workflows; assist in integration/test strategies.
• Integrate services with databases, messaging systems, and external APIs.
• Troubleshoot XML messaging, JMS queues, networking, IP configurations, interfaces.
• Demonstrate capabilities during run-for-record events for acceptance and readiness.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline
