Job summary

The Cybersecurity Systems Engineer will help design and implement cybersecurity capabilities for mission-critical U.S. Navy systems. This role offers an opportunity for a systems engineer to expand into cybersecurity while contributing to requirements development, threat analysis, risk assessment, engineering documentation, and accreditation activities.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Designing and engineering systems that meet Navy mission requirements, incorporating security considerations alongside functional and performance requirements.
• Analyzing existing systems, engineering documentation, and development processes.
• Developing, managing, and tracing system requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
• Translating customer needs and applicable security controls into clear, verifiable system requirements.
• Developing and reviewing systems engineering documentation, including contributions to accreditation-related deliverables.

Must have:

• Must have U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
• Solid foundation in systems engineering principles and full lifecycle practices (requirements, architecture, integration, verification).
• Demonstrated experience developing, managing, and tracing system requirements, with familiarity in requirements management tools.
• General awareness of cybersecurity concepts, threat considerations, and risk factors as they apply to system design.
• Strong technical writing skills and experience producing clear, accurate engineering documentation.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate across engineering disciplines.
• Experience working in an Agile environment and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

Nice to have:

• Exposure to security control frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53, ICD 503, DoD JSIG, or the DoD 8500 series (prior hands-on ownership not required).
• Experience supporting or coordinating with teams on Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) activities.
• Self-starter with strong organization and follow-through.
• Detail-oriented; able to translate complex technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuous learning mindset, particularly toward growing cybersecurity engineering expertise.
