Qualifications

  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • DoD 8140.03 IAT II certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with 8+ years in cybersecurity or equivalent experience.
  • Experience creating SAPs, POA&Ms, and SARs.
  • Experience with Nessus/ACAS scans and DISA STIG/SRG evaluation.
  • Experience with Windows/Linux security lockdowns and network devices.
  • Proficient in DoD cybersecurity policies and Jira usage.

Job Overview

Full‑time, contingent upon contract award, hybrid position (approximately 60% onsite/40% remote). This role requires an active Secret clearance upon hire.

Responsibilities

Serve as a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer for a Navy program office to support implementation and integration of cyber requirements throughout all stages of the system development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, system engineering, deployment, and sustainment. Tasks include reviewing system architecture to identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and compliance issues; planning and executing cybersecurity scans; evaluating STIG, DISA security content automation protocol (SCAP) and vendor security best practices; working with system developers to remediate and mitigate vulnerabilities; developing system architecture and data flow diagrams; developing Security Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M); supporting the Cybersecurity Analyst for the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process to achieve Authority to Operate (ATO) and Interim Authority to Test (IATT).

  • Plan and execute system scans to meet client requirements, analyze results, develop reports, and provide recommendations for remediation to achieve desired security and risk posture.
  • Identify cybersecurity vulnerabilities and compliance issues.
  • Work with engineers to remediate existing vulnerabilities or develop mitigations that minimize impact, likelihood, or risks, and incorporate findings into the system POA&M.
  • Experience with Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) preferred; processing Boundary Change Requests (BCRs) and participating in ad hoc cybersecurity data calls.
  • Provide Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) support and serve as a cybersecurity expert for the program throughout all stages of acquisition, system engineering, and maintenance.
  • Successfully execute RMF assessment process, develop Security Assessment Plans (SAPs), conduct assessments, and compile assessment results for client security assessment reports.
Requirements
  • Active Secret clearance required.
  • DoD 8140.03 IAT II certification required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and at least eight years in the cybersecurity field, or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Experience developing Security Assessment Plans (SAPs), Security POA&Ms, and Security Assessment Reports (SARs).
  • Experience conducting Nessus and ACAS scans; experience building ACAS scanner preferred.
  • Experience conducting DISA STIG and SRGs on multiple technologies; experience evaluating STIGs preferred; experience with SCAP preferred.
  • Experience implementing security lockdowns for Windows or Red‑Hat Linux (RHEL) operating systems and network technologies (firewalls, routers, switches).
  • Good knowledge of Department of War (DoW) cybersecurity policies and procedures.
  • Experience using eMasster and eMASS preferred.
  • Experience using Jira to create, manage, and update work items (user stories, epics, tasks, bug reports) preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to advise technology stakeholders and accrediting authorities on security requirements and trends.
  • Ability to work independently and be a self‑starter.

Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $120,000–$155,000. Placement is based on qualifications within Level I–V. Salary includes a base salary and an excellent benefits package.
