Job summary

Xcel Energy Inc. is offering a year-round System Protection Engineering internship. The role supports the analysis and modeling of protective relays for transmission systems, with mentorship and opportunities to perform SQL queries and lab testing of relay settings.

The internship requires a current student in an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program, and a commitment to at least one calendar year, with full-time summer availability and part-time during the school year.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering in an ABET-accredited program.
• Commitment to internship for at least one calendar year.
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours/week) and part-time during the school year (up to 20 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Support lightning analysis for transmission operation investigations.
• Update short-circuit modeling and relay settings.
• Collaborate with mentor on special assignments and lab testing.
