Job summary

Ardmore Roderick is seeking a Structural Inspector to join our team in Lisle, IL. This role blends remote, in-office and field work as part of the Tollway’s General Engineering Consultant staff, inspecting bridges, retaining walls, and sign structures.

The candidate will perform structural inspections, assist with repair scopes, and help with design reviews, reports and manuals. Must have civil engineering background and strong communication.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of structural engineering principles.
• 5+ years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related field, from an accredited U.S. institution.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Familiarity with tablet technology for project documentation.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Team player with good written and verbal communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide structural technical support and inspection services per ISTHA, IDOT, and AASHTO standards.
• Inspect Illinois Tollway assets including bridges, retaining walls, noise walls, sightscreen walls, and overhead sign structures.
• Develop basic repair scopes and learn to use the Tollway’s Asset Management System software.
• Perform basic design reviews, bridge calculations, and update the Tollway inspection manuals.
• Prepare annual maintenance and insurance reports.
