Mackin Engineers & Consultants in Pittsburgh seeks a seasoned Manager – Highway & Traffic Engineering to lead planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across our service regions. The ideal candidate is a licensed PE with strong technical leadership, mentoring, and business development capabilities to guide projects from concept through construction.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
PE license is required.
Minimum 10+ years of highway and/or traffic engineering experience.
Experience managing projects and supporting business development is preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead design and development of highway and traffic engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Oversee construction plans, ROW plans, erosion controls, stormwater management, signing, and highway lighting.
Direct project planning, scheduling, staffing, and coordination for multiple active projects.
Review calculations, plans, and estimates for accuracy and compliance with standards.
Mentor and review work of highway and traffic engineering staff.
Communicate with clients regarding scope, schedule, and progress.
Support business development: SOIs, LOIs, and technical/cost proposals.
Conduct field visits to monitor construction progress and conformance with documents.
Identify project risks and advise leadership on impacts to budget and schedule.
Contribute to a collaborative team culture and process improvements.
