Job summary

The National Domestic Violence Hotline is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Finance team in a hybrid Austin-based role. You’ll maintain the general ledger, support grant accounting, assist with payroll and month-end close, and prepare grant billings and reports.

The ideal candidate brings a accounting degree, GAAP knowledge, and strong Excel skills, with experience in nonprofit or grant accounting preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 30 accounting credits.
• Or advanced degree with 30 accounting credits in accounting.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Grant accounting experience and AP/AR/payroll support preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain general ledger transactions and supporting documentation.
• Assist with year-end audit preparation and provide auditors with records.
• Prepare monthly grant billings reports and documentation for review.
• Process federal grant drawdowns and record related entries.
• Handle accounts receivable entries for grants and contracts.
• Process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements.
• Prepare vendor payments via ACH and approved workflows.
• Support payroll processing and GL data uploads from payroll provider.
• Assist with monthly close and reconcile balance sheets to trial balance.
• Prepare monthly shared cost allocations to grants.
