Job summary

Chef Works is seeking a Staff Accountant to support monthly close, reconciliations, and intercompany activities in a hybrid Poway, CA office. The role partners with AR, AP, HR, IT, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial records while seeking automation opportunities.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years in general accounting, Excel and ERP experience, and a proactive approach to improving daily accounting workflows. Occasional lifting and desk work are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Excel and Word; experience with ERP/accounting systems.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to own tasks, research issues independently, and follow through.
• Proactive, flexible team player who adapts to changing processes and automates workflows.
• Practical experience with AI tools is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly balance sheet and cash reconciliations; research discrepancies.
• Coordinate with AR/AP to ensure proper recording of cash activity.
• Prepare accounting for operating and finance leases; maintain schedules.
• Prepare intercompany chargebacks and related reconciliations.
• Monitor AR activity related to bad debt; prepare allowances and write-offs.
