Job summary

Tangram Flex is seeking a Software Language Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a domain-specific language for our platform, focusing on scalability and a superior developer experience for external clients.

You will own the client-facing tooling, IDE integrations, and precise compiler diagnostics to enable customers to safely program their internal environments, while collaborating with defense and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, computational linguistics, EE, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in syntax, semantics, and morphology.
• Familiar with parser generators, compiler toolchains, architecture design.
• Proficient in Python, Java, and C++ and version control (Git).
• Willingness to obtain DoD security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Based in Dayton, Ohio with periodic days at WPAFB; travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with client teams to translate needs into language features and descriptive syntax.
• Develop language features and run-time updates; ensure interoperability and security compliance.
• Build tooling, IDE integrations, and diagnostics for client programming environments.
• Document designs and provide mentorship to junior engineers and team members.
