Job summary

Tangram Flex seeks a Software Language Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a domain-specific language for engineering platforms, emphasizing scalability and user experience to drive adoption by external clients.

This role also owns client-facing developer tooling, IDE integrations, and precise compiler diagnostics to enable safe, independent programming of internal environments. Based in Dayton, Ohio, with travel and DoD clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience and deep knowledge in syntax, semantics, and morphology.
• Familiarity with parser generators, compiler toolchains, software and system architecture design.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, and C++.
• Familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Must be able to obtain or currently hold U.S. Government DoD security clearance. U.S. citizenship required.
• Work is based in Dayton, Ohio with periodic days at WPAFB.
• Travel up to 25% for customer support and presentations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with client and industry teams to gather requirements and translate needs into the language standard.
• Translate client engineering needs into language features and runtime updates.
• Integrate language tech with defense software platforms ensuring interoperability and security compliance.
• Build language to support interface with radio frequency components.
• Support hierarchical language design for reusable software components.
• Ensure the language supports counter engagement and counter surveillance use cases.
• Add language and runtime features for various waveform sources integrations.
• Document designs, workflows, and best practices for internal/external stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
