Job summary

Aurora Operations, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer in Pittsburgh to architect and implement data platforms for autonomous vehicle software. The role focuses on building distributed services, Go/Python backends, and scalable databases within a cloud ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to read, interpret, analyze, and communicate data-driven insights.
• Deep knowledge of Linux kernel and computer networking.
• Massive cloud-scale distributed systems architecture.
• Proficient in GoLang, Python, C++, and SQL.
• Demonstrated experience with AWS S3, AWS Glue Catalog, AWS Athena.
• Demonstrated experience with gRPC and API Gateways.
• Demonstrated experience with Grafana, Prometheus and PromQL, and OpsGenie.
• Demonstrated experience with SQL database design, management, and scalability.
• Knowledge of CI/CD deployment pipelines and ghz, Python unittest and Pytest testing frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement a robust framework for autonomous vehicle board to support onboard event detection execution.
• Design and implement core data extraction platforms for autonomous vehicle software into highly available, distributed systems to support exponential data growth of autonomous vehicle fleet.
• Develop AI-powered data retrieval solutions for autonomous vehicle fleet logs to enhance engineering efficiency and streamline data discovery processes.
• Architect and implement robust framework for autonomous vehicle board to support onboard event detection and execution.
• Design and implement low overhead metrics extraction framework in C++ and SQL.
• Participate in peer code reviews and mentor junior engineers to backend robotic system development, design, and cloud storage patterns.
• Design, build, and maintain distributed backend services and APIs for autonomous vehicle system using GoLang and Python within a comprehensive cloud computing ecosystem.
• Automate CI/CD deployment pipelines and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Investigate, debug, and resolve complex systemic backend issues across microservices, networking layers (gRPC and API Gateways), and production databases.
• Partner closely with downstream products, machine learning, and core engineering teams to define technical requirements and deliver cross-functional data solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline data sourcing workflows and support the efficient processing of complex, fragmented robotics logs.
