Job summary

Relative Dynamics, a NASA/USGS partner, seeks a Software/Database Engineer in Sioux Falls, SD. The role combines software development in Python with building and optimizing relational databases to support Landsat data processing and earth observation initiatives.

Hybrid work in Sioux Falls, collaboration with engineers and scientists, and opportunities to improve performance on mission-critical systems are offered. Diligent applicants with a security credential background will fit well.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• Three or more years of professional software engineering or database development experience
• Experience developing software in Python within Linux/Unix environments
• Experience supporting cloud computing environments
• Experience interfacing with relational database systems
• Three years of continuous residency in the United States for issuance of a Government Security credential
• Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation for facility access

Responsibilities

• Develop software primarily in Python.
• Design, develop, and maintain database components.
• Support cloud-based architecture and workflows.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Scientists, and mission stakeholders.
• Optimize performance and scalability of large-scale data processing systems.
• Write and execute unit and integration tests.
• Participate in code reviews and design reviews.
