Job summary

Casual Precision is hiring a Software/Data Engineer to design and operate the Casual Precision Data Platform (CPDP). The role spans ingestion and transformation, using Python, Spark, AWS, Airflow, and dbt to build reliable production data systems.

You'll work across ingestion and transformation, partner with senior engineers on architecture, and contribute to platform evolution in a hybrid Connecticut office with flexible remote days.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in software or data engineering focusing on production data systems.
• Proficient Python for production apps and data pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills including window functions and optimization.
• Hands-on Spark and AWS Glue or similar distributed processing.
• Production dbt experience with models, tests, docs, and macros.
• Experience building Airflow workflows with scheduling, retries, and deployment.
• Familiarity with modern CI/CD, Git workflows, automated tests, and PR deployments.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses (Redshift or equivalent).
• Experience logging, monitoring, auditing, and troubleshooting production data.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AWS Glue PySpark ingestion jobs and Airflow DAGs.
• Develop dbt models to transform Bronze to Silver/Gold datasets with tests and docs.
• Migrate legacy pipelines to dbt and support AI-assisted document ingestion.
• Ensure reliability of pipelines and data contracts between ingestion and transformation.
• Investigate issues in event ingestion and protect data quality downstream.
• Collaborate with Analytics, BI, and Data Science to meet business needs.
• Contribute to CPDP platform with code reviews and reusable engineering patterns.
