The Hartford in Charlotte, NC is launching an Associate Underwriter program with a 14-week hybrid training track beginning January 2027. You will gain real-world experience underwriting small business risks, pricing, and collaborating with sales teams and agents to write profitable commercial business.

You’ll receive mentoring, on-the-job coaching, and a path toward formal underwriting roles within a supportive, inclusive culture that encourages growth and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and Insurance experience.
• Strong sales skills with the ability to negotiate and sell all messages including with those that may be difficult.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations, and propose solutions.
• Possession of resilience and an entrepreneurial spirit.
• Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills.
• Goal oriented with a strong desire to deliver outcomes in timely manner.
• Acts with a sense of urgency and is responsive to internal and external customer needs.
• Travel approximately 10% of the time.

Responsabilités

• Work on our underwriting team supporting small business owners and handle all commercial lines.
• Learn to develop and price risks, analyze loss and risk information, and identify red flags.
• Partner with territory sales reps to achieve profit and growth objectives.
• Build and leverage relationships with agents to obtain new accounts and drive results.
