Job summary

Fortress Information Security in the Washington, DC area is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of critical systems. You will transition applications from traditional Ansible deployments to containerized, orchestrated setups across AWS and on-premises environments, and enhance CI/CD with Blue/Green and Canary releases.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years hands-on experience in a SRE/DevOps role supporting production systems.
• Production experience supporting Linux-based infrastructure and AWS services (RDS, VPC, ECR, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, Lambda, API Gateway) and on-premises.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, Jenkins and Terraform.
• Excellent documentation skills so anyone on the team can come up-to-speed on changes quickly.
• Experience implementing rolling upgrades (canary, blue/green).
• Strong scripting and tooling (Bash, Python, JS).
• Active clearance preferred; ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite in Patuxent River, Maryland up to 20% of the time.
• Must be willing to participate in technical interviews (may be recorded).

Responsibilities

• Transition applications to containerized deployments in AWS and on-prem.
• Build on CI/CD to support blue/green and canary releases.
• Support Development/QA/UAT by enabling testing across the lifecycle.
• Improve infrastructure for CI/CD, monitoring, clustering, configuration management.
• Migrate secrets/configs from Ansible Vault to Hashicorp Vault.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning during deployment.
• Handle code deployments in cloud and on-premises environments.
• Implement tools to monitor and alert on SLAs/SLOs.
• Provide technical guidance to teammates.
• Monitor availability and performance of systems.
• Be available for daytime and after-hours release activities.
