The New School offers a language tutoring position providing 30-minute one-on-one sessions and guidance on grammar, pronunciation, and assignments. Tutors promote language courses after completing training and participate in in-class cultural events, with hybrid work and STARFISH office hours.

Responsibilities include training attendance, short class visits, homework review, and feedback on oral and written work, plus weekly timesheets and coordination with faculty tutors.

Formación

• Native or near-native fluency in target language and strong English communication to explain rules.
• Experience as a tutor in school or other institutions is a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal skills: patience, empathy, respect, and tolerance.
• Open to students currently enrolled at The New School University only.

Responsabilidades

• Attend tutoring training sessions and review all digital material.
• Perform short class visits and guide students on tutoring sign-in and services.
• Explain and guide material from class: grammar, pronunciation, and homework review.
• Assist with oral and written assignments and provide feedback.
• Facilitate speaking/listening exercises to build real-world conversation skills.
• Coordinate with language professors for cultural class events.
• Set up STARFISH office hours per academic calendar and reflect holidays.
• Submit timesheets for payment weekly.
• Communicate promptly when a session is cancelled.
• Notify tutoring coordinator if students miss sessions.
• Record all sessions in the tutoring tracker with date/time and student name.
