Job summary

The New School is seeking a Language Tutor to assist fellow students in one-on-one sessions, focusing on grammar, pronunciation, and written and oral assignments. The role emphasizes active participation in training, cultural activities, and tutoring service promotion.

As an Academic Student Worker, you must be currently enrolled and capable of contributing to class-related language activities while maintaining accurate records and attending STARFISH or equivalent scheduling tools.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a student at The New School University.
• Native or near native fluency in the target language and strong English communication skills.
• Experience as a tutor in high school or elsewhere is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills including patience, empathy and respect for diverse student opinions.

Responsibilities

• Attend required tutoring training sessions (administrative, pedagogical, technological).
• Conduct one-on-one tutoring sessions of up to 30 minutes and assist with grammar explanations, pronunciation, and homework review.
• Guide students through written and oral assignments, presentations and exams.
• Promote tutoring services and participate in cultural events as scheduled.
• Maintain records, submit timesheets, and communicate schedule changes promptly.
