Job summary

Leidos seeks a Principal Systems Engineer (LEAD) to guide systems engineering for the Air Traffic Business Area within the Homeland Sector, supporting the Leidos Common Automation Platform (L-CAP). This hybrid role spans Gaithersburg, MD; Egg Harbor Township, NJ; or Eagan, MN, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote.

You’ll lead requirements, interfaces, verification, and safety analyses for a multi-ART program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of experience in systems engineering leadership.
• Experience leading large-scale, multi-ART programs.
• Proven ability to manage requirements decomposition and allocation.
• Proficiency in verification and validation planning at enterprise level.
• Interface management across subsystems and teams.
• MBSE/SysML modeling for complex architectures.
• System integration planning for distributed platforms.
• Safety-critical systems engineering including hazard analysis.
• Aviation/defense domain experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross-program systems engineering activities across four ARTs.
• Establish and govern requirements management processes and standards.
• Define and manage interface control documents and integration specifications.
• Develop verification and validation strategy and execution plans.
• Maintain requirements traceability from stakeholder needs to implementation.
• Lead system integration planning and execution across the platform.
• Conduct safety analysis including hazard identification and mitigation.
• Support certification activities and regulatory compliance evidence.
• Define and enforce SE process standards and best practices.
• Lead technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR).
• Ensure cross-ART architectural consistency and shared standards.
• Lead modernization planning from a SE perspective.
• Govern interfaces between legacy and modernized services.
• Champion AI-driven development practices to boost productivity and quality.
