Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator in New York, NY, with 6+ years in infrastructure engineering to own and optimize a hybrid Windows environment across on‑prem and cloud platforms.

You will collaborate with the Head of IT, design scalable systems, manage 365/Azure, and develop SOPs and runbooks while ensuring security, DR, and executive support. This role requires hands‑on leadership and strong scripting skills.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of infrastructure engineering and systems administration in demanding environments.
• Proven mastery of Windows Server components: AD, Entra ID, GPO, DNS, DHCP, DFS, WSUS, Hyper-V.
• Hands-on Microsoft cloud experience: 365, Azure networking, storage, VMs, app integrations.
• Hybrid AD, multi-site forests, and endpoint management across Windows 10/11.
• Strong PowerShell scripting to automate admin workflows.
• Solid enterprise networking knowledge (VLANs, routing) and SOC 2/security controls.
• Familiarity with Linux, AWS, GCP, and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day administration and optimization of the firm’s Windows infrastructure, on‑prem and cloud.
• Collaborate with IT leadership to design, deploy, and maintain scalable systems.
• Manage Microsoft 365 and Azure identities, RBAC, storage, and networking.
• Create and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and proactive monitoring tools.
• Provide high-touch support for executives and end-users, including escalations.
• Oversee backup, DR, and business continuity planning.
• Enforce endpoint security and compliance to audits.
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system reliability.
