Job summary

Divergent is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality & Development Engineer to lead supplier quality and development initiatives at our Torrance, CA site. The role combines proactive supplier development with rigorous quality oversight to ensure materials and components meet stringent standards.

You will drive root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and mentor QC and purchasing teams while traveling up to 50% for audits and supplier support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field.
• Minimum 7–8 years of progressive experience in supplier quality engineering.
• Expertise in APQP, PPAP, and FMEA.
• Strong knowledge of automotive component design, manufacturing processes, safety and test requirements.
• Proficiency in GD&T and datum structures.
• Understanding of IATF 16949:2016, ISO 14001, and regulatory standards.
• Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
• Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Experience conducting supplier quality audits and driving improvements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between production, procurement, suppliers and customers to ensure quality.
• Develop and improve supplier quality manuals, procedures, and inspection plans.
• Communicate customer requirements and ensure flow down through POs.
• Conduct supplier quality audits and source inspections.
• Lead corrective actions to improve OTD, scrap, rework, and repair costs.
• Oversee containment for defects and ensure RCCA processes.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve supplier-related issues.
• Participate in MRB activities for nonconformances.
• Evaluate supplier capability through data analysis and site assessments.
• Track supplier KPIs to drive quality and cost efficiency.
• Develop training programs for QC and buyers on Lean and problem solving.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% for supplier development.
