Job summary

Lower Cape Fear LifeCare is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in Wilmington, NC. This professional will drive the monthly close, analyze financial statements, and support strategic decision-making with strong GAAP knowledge.

The role requires 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally. Hybrid options available after 90 days, with core duties in accounting and payroll.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5–7+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and identify trends and risks.
• Conduct budget-to-actual variance analysis with department leaders.
• Own and reconcile complex general ledger accounts and review related work.
• Ensure system alignment across subledgers and the general ledger.
• Oversee payroll and payroll accounting, including Form 941 reconciliations.
• Serve as primary contact for auditors and support audit prep.
• Research and apply GAAP guidance for compliance.
• Drive system optimization and data reporting efficiency.
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Act as a backup to the Controller for budgeting and planning.
