Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Scrum Master / Sr. Software Developer to support a federal technology and defense contractor. Hybrid role; candidates should be within an hour of Gaithersburg, MD, Eagan, MN, or Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

You will split duties 50/50 between hands-on Java software development and SAFe Agile leadership, modernizing air traffic management systems with cloud-native apps and agile software delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher with 8+ years experience or Master's with 6+ years.
• 5+ years of Java design, development, testing and reviews.
• 2+ years as Scrum Master on a SAFe agile team.
• Strong Spring Framework, Spring Boot and Spring Security experience.
• Design/implement microservices and RESTful APIs (JSON/XML).
• Frontend: React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS; testing basics.
• Linux exposure and Git proficiency; CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Eligible for Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Software Development — design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Java apps and cloud-native microservices.
• Contribute to architecture, design reviews, automated testing, and code quality.
• Integrate with legacy air traffic systems and new components.
• Troubleshoot development, testing, and production issues; use CI/CD/DevSecOps.
• Mentor junior engineers and uphold coding standards.
• Scrum Master — lead SAFe ceremonies, remove impediments, track velocity and delivery metrics.
• Coordinate with Release Train Engineers, Product Owners and stakeholders.
• Manage cross-team dependencies, risks, and blockers for program delivery.
