Hybrid work with 4 days onsite and 1 day remote in Chicago area. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in network engineering and at least 3 years in leadership, strong expertise in BGP/OSPF/MPLS,

Qualifications

• 10+ years in network engineering in low-latency, mission-critical environments.
• 3+ years in leadership or management.
• Deep expertise in low-latency design and optimization.
• Advanced knowledge of Layer 2/3 protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VXLAN.
• Experience in architecture, design, and production deployment.
• Hands-on with Python and API-driven automation.
• Strong operational rigor and change management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a high-performing network engineering team with disciplined practices.
• Drive strategic network initiatives from concept to deployment.
• Own architecture and evolution of low-latency trading network infrastructure.
• Partner with Principal Engineers to lead complex design efforts.
• Manage a dynamic project portfolio and reprioritize based on business needs.
• Collaborate across infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams.
• Establish and enforce operational practices including change management.
• Support and influence network automation strategy using Python and API tooling.
• Oversee vendor relationships, RFPs, and design reviews.
• Senior escalation point for complex network issues.
• Contribute to budgeting and capacity planning.
• Define and maintain engineering standards and documentation.
