Job summary

World Wildlife Fund (WWF) seeks a Senior Specialist, NbS Project Development and Community Engagement to advance nature-based solutions financing. Hybrid work in Washington, DC, full-time, limited-term for 2 years.

You will support NMU deal leads, develop NbS projects, lead community engagement and FPIC processes, align with standards, and help build partnerships with financiers and private sector to mobilize conservation finance. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years (or advanced degree with 3+ years) of relevant experience.
• Experience in project development, ideally carbon or NbS projects (baseline development, feasibility, PDDs, etc).
• Exposure to carbon marketing/sales or carbon credit standards and methodologies (VM0047, Reforestation Protocol).
• Strong ability to work inclusively with Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
• Specialist knowledge in stakeholder engagement, FPIC and benefits sharing.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for WWF management, partners, and funders.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% and potentially extended missions.

Responsibilities

• Support NMU deal leads in origination, design, and development of NbS products, focusing on carbon removal credits.
• Advise deal teams on carbon project development, market methodologies and standards, and market expectations.
• Design and implement stakeholder engagement, benefit-sharing, and FPIC processes across NMU projects.
• Ensure projects align with international standards, market best practices, and WWF policies.
• Conduct rigorous assessments of projects led by others within climate, social, biodiversity contexts.
• Manage project delivery and internal/external stakeholder engagement across multiple projects.
• Support broader strategy development, market research, fundraising, and market outreach.
