Job summary

Capital Power in Phoenix, Arizona, seeks a Senior Lead, Interconnections & Transmission Engineer to provide specialized technical and commercial expertise for interconnecting power generation projects. You will evaluate transmission options, coordinate interconnection studies, advise project teams, and build productive relationships with utilities, transmission providers, and system operators.

Qualifications

Minimum six years in transmission planning or related field.
Experience leading complex interconnection studies from start to finish.
Knowledge of reliability standards, regulatory requirements, market rules.
Ability to communicate complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborative experience with utilities, system operators, and consultants.

Responsibilities

Evaluate transmission and interconnection options to support cost, schedule, reliability objectives.
Serve as technical lead for interconnection applications, studies, and related workstreams.
Coordinate interconnection studies from application development through review and implementation.
Review power flow, stability, short-circuit, electromagnetic transient, and reliability studies.
Assess transmission topology, constraints, queues, and curtailment risks.
Provide input into interconnection agreements, cost estimates, schedules, and negotiations.
Serve as a key technical contact with transmission owners, system operators, and utilities.
Identify interconnection risks and opportunities and present clear recommendations.
Support resolution of technical, contractual, regulatory, and system access issues.
Coordinate interconnection-related matters during design and construction across teams.
Monitor evolving regulatory policies and interconnection requirements and assess business impact.
Provide technical input to Regulatory and other internal SMEs on development and operations.
Support compliance with interconnection agreements and system access obligations.
Share knowledge and mentor colleagues.
Support technical due diligence for acquisitions and development opportunities.
