The ACLU seeks a Deputy Project Director for Immigration Detention within the National Prison Project in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, CA, or New York, NY. This hybrid role requires in-office presence two days weekly or eight days per month.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will oversee strategic planning, fundraising, and supervision of staff, focusing on challenging immigration detention practices and expanding the footprint of detention facilities.

Qualificações

• J.D. degree and active State Bar membership.
• Extensive experience in complex civil litigation in federal court (10+ years preferred).
• Experience working with immigrant detention and immigrant communities.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform complex legal analysis and fact-finding.
• Experience working with reporters/media on criminal justice and immigration issues.
• Commitment to teamwork, diversity, and mission of the ACLU.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and manage complex litigation in federal/state courts.
• Develop and lead advocacy campaigns and policy initiatives.
• Supervise staff attorneys and collaborate with internal partners.
• Engage in strategic planning and budgeting for the project.
• Travel as required for litigation, conferences, and strategy development.
