Job summary

Muon Space is seeking an Architect for cloud image processing and ML infrastructure in a hybrid on-site role in San Jose, CA. You will design, build, and deploy the serving platform that runs image algorithms and ML models in production, setting patterns for production-grade performance and cross-team interfaces.

The role emphasizes low-latency design, distributed systems, and leadership in modern C++/Python with PyTorch, LibTorch, and cloud runtimes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or related field.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering with leadership on distributed computation or data-intensive systems.
• Expert-level C++ with memory management, concurrency and performance in production.
• Strong PyTorch experience and production use of LibTorch in cloud environments.
• Experience architecting distributed, low-latency image and ML systems.
• Strong Python skills and ability to integrate with native implementations.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and cross-functional leadership.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; active clearance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop and deploy cloud image processing and ML serving stack for ground data products.
• Design distributed, low-latency image processing systems that scale in the cloud.
• Define interfaces for data pipelines to call into native/accelerated code.
• Establish production-grade image processing and ML serving paths for current and future missions.
• Deliver high-performance reference implementations and benchmark them.
• Mentor engineers on C++, image/ML runtimes, and distributed systems.
• Own verification, validation and performance regression tests.
• Produce designs, trade studies, and interface documentation.
