Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Computer Vision and image processing. You will implement high-throughput imaging pipeline stages in C++ with GPU acceleration, porting components to Python interfaces, and delivering production-ready services.

This hybrid role requires on-site work three days a week, collaboration with HPC and image data products teams, and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, or a related technical field.
• 3+ years of professional experience developing performance-critical C++ software in production.
• Expert-level C++, with memory management, concurrency and performance-oriented programming.
• Hands-on experience with bundle adjustment, orthorectification, and common image and geospatial formats.
• Demonstrated experience building high-throughput, low-latency image-processing services.
• Experience integrating C++ components into Python pipelines.
• Strong Python skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Active clearance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Implement and re-implement expensive imaging-pipeline stages in performant C++, including bundle adjustment, orthorectification, and image format handling, and expose them to Python.
• Drive down pipeline latency by replacing stages with optimized implementations (e.g. GPU-based orthorectification).
• Port high-value stages from Python to C++/GPU and lead migrations to completion.
• Contribute to high-performance reference algorithms and benchmarks.
• Collaborate with HPC GPU specialists for workloads benefitting from acceleration.
• Own verification and validation, including unit, integration, and performance tests in CI.
• Produce designs, trade studies, and interface documentation.
