Job summary

Strava is seeking a senior engineering leader to tackle cross-stack, ambiguous problems from client to server. You will report to a Senior Director of Product Engineering and work with a compact bench of ICs to address Strava’s riskiest technical questions, including initiatives with Runna.

The role requires deep full-stack skills, the ability to move between initiatives, and a track record of driving change in a recently integrated organization.

Qualifications

• Genuine full-stack range and ability to operate across systems you didn’t build.
• Proven track record solving unscoped, cross-team technical problems.
• Ability to influence and drive change without formal authority.
• Senior technical judgment; able to set direction in ambiguity.
• Experience navigating recently acquired or integrated organizations is a plus.
• Tiger-team, fixer, or SWAT-style experience at scale is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Drop into ambiguous, cross-stack problems and diagnose what’s actually happening before prescribing a fix.
• Reason fluently across client and server systems to unblock high-priority product initiatives (iOS, Android, Go, Scala).
• Drive measurable impact on critical bets, starting with organic growth and subscriber value initiatives.
• Act as a trusted agent of change inside teams and parts of the business you don’t own.
• Partner with leadership to surface recurring product and technical opportunities worth attacking proactively.
• Set technical direction and bring teams along on high-risk work.
