Job summary

BankNewport is seeking an experienced Commercial Credit Underwriting Manager to lead the underwriting team for CRE and C&I loan reviews in Rhode Island. The role includes analyzing financial data, preparing credit memos, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations.

Hybrid position with some travel to RI locations for training and meetings; supervise a team of credit analysts, assign workflow, coach staff, and collaborate with loan officers to structure terms and improve loan quality.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of credit underwriting and portfolio management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; managerial or team lead experience.
• Excellent analytical, managerial, planning, organizational, and communication skills (written & oral).
• Experience using Microsoft Office programs; nCino familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assign loans to credit analysts and manage daily underwriting workflow.
• Review credit approval memorandums for accuracy and completeness.
• Assign risk ratings and identify policy exceptions and red flags.
• Underwrite complex commercial loan requests as needed.
